Ski Vacations in
the Salzburger Lungau
Located approximately 1 km from the center of Mauterndorf, the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area is exceptionally popular with families and recreational skiers. Thanks to high elevations up to 2,400 meters, it promises reliable snow conditions from late November until well after Easter!
Grosseck-Speiereck “Adventure Mountain” can be accessed both from Mauterndorf and St. Michael. It boasts meticulously groomed pistes as high as 2,400 meters above sea level. Amongst them is the new, breathtakingly sunny valley run to St. Michael, spanning 9 kilometers in length, and another route leading to Mauterndorf, measuring 5.5 kilometers.
In addition to Adventure Mountain, you will also be able to enjoy the ski areas on the Fanningberg, Aineck/Katschberg, and Obertauern. The Lungau ski buses provide convenient transportation to all Lungau ski areas at hourly intervals.

The Salzburger Lungau region offers an impressive array of approximately 150 kilometers of cross-country trails (classic and skating technique), providing perfect conditions for improving your technique, endurance, and speed. Cross-country skiing demands reliable snow conditions, and the Salzburger Lungau most definitely delivers. Alongside the alpine trails on the Prebersee and in Schönfeld, the region also features a trail with snowmaking capability in Lignitz, Mariapfarr.
Sledding
In Mauterndorf, you'll find the floodlit sledding hill, approximately 500 meters long, right alongside the winter walking path leading to the ski center at the foot of Mauterndorf Castle. One of the Lungau's longest sled runs can be found on the Fanningberg, taking you from the Gamsstadl hut to Gasthof Jacklbauer.
